Snack List

There is much emphasis in today's world about the importance of good nutrition and how it affects learning and behavior.   Our daily snack time has been established to help teach good eating habits. The following list is given to help you determine what is acceptable for snack time.  Our goal is for children to have foods that will refuel their bodies and not spike their blood sugar levels so that they can function at their best.   Unfortunately, many foods manufactured to target children only provide empty calories, but with a little research and creativity, (there are great websites for healthy snack ideas), you can find foods that will both please your child and supply what the growing body needs!
Beverage: Plain water only (no flavored or colored).  Water is the most important nutrient our bodies need!
Acceptable snacks: Unacceptable snacks:
Fruit - fresh or dried Cookies, cake, donuts
Veggies and dip Little Debbie type snacks
Nuts / Nut butters - almond, peanut, etc. * Jello / Pudding
All natural fruit sticks (such as Archer Farms (Target) Fruit roll-ups

* If your child is highly allergic to a food, please let your teacher know so that the food can be restricted from the classroom.

Praying For Your Child

One of the most effective ways to pray for your child is simply praying what God's Word says. God said in Isaiah 55:11 (NIV), "So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." Jeremiah 1:12 says that God watches over His Word to perform it. When you are diligent to pray scriptures over your children, God said He would perform them in their lives! If you are not already doing so, we encourage you to begin today. Find scriptures that you want to see God perform in your child's life and begin to pray them over your child daily. And then expect God to do great things in his/her life! Listed below are some scriptures to help you get started.

Isaiah 54:13

And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD, and great shall be the peace of thy children. (KJV)

Proverbs 8:33

Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it. (NIV)

Proverbs 9:10-11

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. (NIV)

Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (NIV)

Ephesians 6:1-3

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise - "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." (NIV)

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (NKJV)

Titus 3:1-2

Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men. (NIV)

Ephesians 4:32

And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. (NASB)

James 1:19

Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. (NIV)

The following is a sample prayer of how you can pray God's Word over your child. Insert your child's name in the blank.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for my child ____. What a wonderful gift You have given me. I thank You that ____ will be taught of You all the days of (his/her) life, and great shall be (his/her) peace. I pray that ____ will always listen to instruction so that (he/she) may become wise. I pray that ____ will have a submissive and obedient spirit and will always revere and honor You. I thank You for Your promise that ____ will enjoy a long, fulfilling, and healthy life on this earth as (he/she) is diligent to obey and honor (his/her) parents. I ask You to give me wisdom as (his/her) parent to train (him/her) according to Your Word. I pray that ____ will be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. I pray that (he/she) will be kind to others, tender-hearted and quick to forgive. Teach me Your ways that I might live before my child in a way that (he/she) can follow. I thank You that ____ has a destiny in You, and You will lead (him/her) into that wonderful plan that You have for (his/her) life. In Jesus Name, Amen.

May God grant you great wisdom in raising your child as you seek Him so that your seed may be mighty upon the earth!
